HCN STAFF: Gift Renewal Flow

Hello HCN Staff,


Today I will show you how you can renew your gift subscriptions.


To access your online HCN account and get behind the paywall, all you have to do is login.


To login:

  1. Go to hcn.org

  1. Login at the top right
    • Username is your email :
    • Password:
      • (Also you have to have to click the LOGIN with the mouse, it won't go if you just hit "Enter")
      • If you need help with online access:
        • Email us at support@hcn.org, we will set a temporary password for you
        • Use the PASSWORDLESS Login link



  1. Click on the MY ACCOUNT in the upper right - it should drop down into a menu and you should see

  1. Your CUSTOMER ACCOUNT DASHBOARD should pop up with all sorts of information you can review and change as needed
      • (i.e. your password, or if you'd like to give a donation or renew your subscription or give the gift of HCN to a friend etc.)


  1. To view and renew your gift subscriptions, use the drop down under Gifts and select "RENEW"

  1. Follow the prompts
    • select your billing address
    • select your saved payment method
  2. Enter Discount at the Complete Your Subscription page, click "ADD Coupon Code" to
    • apply the coupon: jimspencer100
    • receive 100% discount on a full or digital membership
    • reserved for staff to gift gifts in 2026

  1. You have successfully renewed your gift!


However, the best part of all of this is, once you are logged into your account, you are behind the HCN paywall and have unlimited access to over 50 years of HCN reporting that has been digitized and archived on our website. Plus access to unique online exclusives that are more timely than we can capture in the print magazine (for example: https://www.hcn.org/articles/taking-the-long-view-2/) or audio pieces (for example: https://www.hcn.org/articles/audio-whats-so-funny-about-climate-change/)

There is also a deep archive of digitized articles going back over fifty years: hcn.org/topic
